چکیده

We study a nonlinear, unsteady, moving boundary, fluid–structure interaction (FSI) problem in which the structure is composed of two layers: a thick layer, and a thin layer which serves as a fluid–structure interface with mass. The fluid flow, which is driven by the time-dependent dynamic pressure data, is modeled by the Navier–Stokes equations for an incompressible, viscous fluid, defined on a 2D cylinder. The elastodynamics of the cylinder wall is governed by the 1D linear wave equation modeling the thin structural layer, and by the 2D equations of linear elasticity modeling the thick structural layer. We prove existence of a weak solution to this nonlinear FSI problem as long as the cylinder radius is greater than zero. The spaces of weak solutions presented in this manuscript reveal a striking new feature: the presence of a thin fluid–structure interface with mass regularizes solutions of the coupled problem. © 2013 Elsevier Inc. Thermoelastic Interaction in a Three-Dimensional Layered Sandwich Structure

The present article investigates the thermoelastic interaction in a three-dimensional homogeneous and isotropic sandwich structure using the dual-phase-lag (DPL) model of generalized thermoelasticity. The incorporated resulting non-dimensional coupled equations are applied to a specific problem in which a sandwich layer of unidentical homogeneous and isotropic substances is subjected to time-de...

Analytical D’Alembert Series Solution for Multi-Layered One-Dimensional Elastic Wave Propagation with the Use of General Dirichlet Series

A general initial-boundary value problem of one-dimensional transient wave propagation in a multi-layered elastic medium due to arbitrary boundary or interface excitations (either prescribed tractions or displacements) is considered. Laplace transformation technique is utilised and the Laplace transform inversion is facilitated via an unconventional method, where the expansion of complex-valued...

Investigation of Fluid-structure Interaction by Explicit Central Finite Difference Methods

Fluid-structure interaction (FSI) occurs when the dynamic water hammer forces; cause vibrations in the pipe wall. FSI in pipe systems due to Poisson and junction coupling has been the center of attention in recent years. It causes fluctuations in pressure heads and vibrations in the pipe wall. The governing equations of this phenomenon include a system of first order hyperbolic partial differen...

An effective method for eigen-problem solution of fluid-structure systems

Efficient mode shape extraction of fluid-structure systems is of particular interest in engineering. An efficient modified version of unsymmetric Lanczos method is proposed in this paper. The original unsymmetric Lanczos method was applied to general form of unsymmetric matrices, while the proposed method is developed particularly for the fluid-structure matrices. The method provides us with si...

A New Compromise Decision-making Model based on TOPSIS and VIKOR for Solving Multi-objective Large-scale Programming Problems with a Block Angular Structure under Uncertainty

This paper proposes a compromise model, based on a new method, to solve the multi-objective large-scale linear programming (MOLSLP) problems with block angular structure involving fuzzy parameters. The problem involves fuzzy parameters in the objective functions and constraints. In this compromise programming method, two concepts are considered simultaneously. First of them is that the optimal ...
